【明報專訊】A man in his sixties with chronic illness was admitted to hospital with acute respiratory distress two days after receiving the Sinovac vaccine and later died. In neighbouring South Korea and Japan, there were also people who died after receiving the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and BioNTech vaccine recently. However, from a scientific point of view, the fact that the deceased had received the vaccine before death does not mean that the vaccine was fatal. Experts from many countries have confirmed that the vaccines are safe for use. The Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following COVID-19 Immunisation has unanimously concluded that there is no direct relationship between the cause of death of the man in his sixties and the vaccine, and that the hype surrounding the incident reflects stereotypes and is not scientific.
