【明報專訊】Being lost in Japan may sound a bit silly to many Hong Kongers. Those of you who have just returned to work and school might still have fresh memories about your foodie or skiing trips in Japan.
Shawn Mendes, however, is perhaps still "lost in Japan"! The 20-year-old Canadian singer's single Lost in Japan, released last March, is a strong hit, with a good rank score in various countries. 2018 was indeed a very fruitful year for the young soft rock singer-songwriter. The hit is the third track from his self-titled album — his third album which topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. He was also named one of the best-dressed men by fashionistas.
Like many Hong Kongers, Shawn Mendes enjoys travelling. When asked at an interview what he would pack if he could only take one item, Mendes said, "I'd pack my guitar, if I could fit it in my suitcase." He has also revealed that by visiting or staycationing in different places he gets inspirations for writing his music. Funny enough! The crooner penned Lost in Japan, a song of loneliness, after a night's sleep with a dream of being lost in the country.
◆Lost In Japan
All it'd take is one flight
We'd be in the same time zone
Looking through your timeline
Seeing all the rainbows, I
I got an idea
And I know that it sounds crazy
I just wanna see ya
Oh, I gotta ask
Do you got plans tonight?
I'm a couple hundred miles from Japan, and I
I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight
'Cause I can't get you off my mind ...
I could feel the tension
We could cut it with a knife
I know it's more than just a friendship
I can hear you thinking 'bout it, yeah
Do I gotta convince you?
That you shouldn't fall asleep?
It'll only be a couple hours
And I'm about to leave ...
I was hoping I could get lost in your paradise
The only thing I'm thinking 'bout is you and I
'Cause I can't get you off my mind
Can't get you off my mind
I can't seem to get you off my mind ...
